One Ancient Hope is a new church for Iowa City, Iowa. A church that is seeking to love the city by bringing real answers, real restoration, real relationship, and real hope through the gospel of Jesus to one of the most influential cities of our day.

We are still in our infancy, but growing steadily. Come and be a part of our community as we build relationships with each other and glean lessons from the Letter to the Colossians on what it means to follow Christ and to call others to join in His mission to renew and transform both lives and culture, as we seek the welfare of the city!


Our community is made up of people of all ages and from all walks of life.  We are a community of followers, searchers, and skeptics who are seeking to learn how to follow the Savior of the World.


One Ancient Hope seeks to bring a gospel-driven, missional church to Iowa City that will seek to apply the hope of Jesus to all of life - and make the city an even better place to live. 


One Ancient Hope is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America, and is an active member of Mission to North America.

“The Antidote to Despair - Part 2”


The pictures of war orphans are sickening and sad.  Their eyes betray all of their hopelessness.  The parents whose job is was to comfort them, teach them, and remind them them of all that was important in their lives have been taken from them.  How can they go forward?


In many ways, the disciples were about to become war orphans.  But the words of Jesus to his confused and frightened followers offered them hope in the midst of despair, and encouragement to press on. And at the center of Jesus words is what the whole gospel is about: LOVE!


You are invited to join other followers, searchers, and skeptics on a journey of of faith as seek to follow Jesus Christ, the One Ancient Hope.
